The Bactrian Camel
- Asian Camels have two humps instead of one, unlike their african relatives.
- Their humps store fat that can be converted into water or energy if none is otherwise provided.
- Bactrian Camels have long fur to protect them in the winter that falls away in the summer.
- They can drink up to 30 gallons of water in 13 minutes.
- Like Arabian camels, Bactrians' nostrils close to keep sand at bay, and their bushy eyebrows and two rows of large eyelashes protect their eyes.
- Big, flat footpads help them navigate the rough rocky terrain and shifting desert sands without sinking under their own massive bulk or the weight of heavy packs.
